Abstract

Crop growth simulation model has been successfully tested using data from different agroclimatic conditions and crops with the aim to assess the impact of climate change. The CERES-wheat model was applied for predicting crop productivity and phenology of Triticum durum Desf. in Sardinia, Italy. Results showed good performances in Mediterranean climate experimental conditions. This study has significant implications for future research on the effect of climate variability or extreme events on agro-ecosystems. In fact, it is clear the need of studies on the field of the adaptive management techniques useful to minimize the risk of climate variability potential effects.
