Generally, fires are related to human activities and need an effective fire prevention and suppression organization, based on a deep knowledge of the territory, fire behaviour and suppression system resources network. To organise monitoring, prevention and fore fighting operations, it is important to know the risk level for different areas. In the operative forest fire organization databases with detailed information, that risk models require, are not available. this is a limit for the fire fighting structures in improving their effectiveness and efficiency.
