Abstract

PlaceMaker is a complex method for analysing the urban landscape designed to identify elements that do not feature in traditional mapping and which constitute the contemporary identity of the places, meant as fundamental element of cultural heritage, representing them in a map that renders the places intelligible. The software tool, under development, supports PlaceMaker method - carried out in the framework of a research project based on an agreement between the Italian National Research Council and the Urban Design and Planning Department of the University of Naples Federico II- to all its phases. Representation of the places is realized by means of insertion in maps of symbols and elements connected to multimedia schedules that can be continuously updated
