The period between the 12th and the 8th centuries BC represents a true black hole in our knowledge of architectural tradition at Phaistos, due to the lack of data following ancient rebuilding activity in the Greek period that destroyed earlier layers, and the scant attention paid to Greek structures during the first excavations. Results from the Beyond the Palace Project offered some insights into the relative dating of surviving walls belonging to these phases, and the formation of a new building tradition after the LM IIIC period, lasting throughout the 8th and perhaps also the 7th century. Within the scope of this meeting, the W.A.L.(L) Project is presented as a contribution to understanding the transformation in architectural behavior from LM IIIC to the Geometric period. Funded by the CNR-ISPC, the W.A.L.(L) Project aims to produce quantified statistical and mathematical data collected during fieldwork via 3D imagery of buildings, in order to gain information regarding architectural behavior and the cultural and social meaning of the buildings analyzed.
