A traditional way to assess children’s articulatory skills is to consider the segmental aspects of language to identify the consonantal sounds that they are able to produce. The TFPI is a new tool for assessing the phonetic development of Italian-speaking children aged 18-47 months. Zmarich et al. (2025) administered the TFPI to a group of 52 typically developing monolingual children aged 24-47 months. Their performance on the naming task was analyzed, in particular the Phonetic Inventory (PhI) and the Percentage of Correct Consonants (PCC) were calculated for each child. Both the PhI and the PCC improve with age, while intersubjective variability progressively decreases. Furthermore, the age of the acquisition of each phone was investigated, providing new information about this area of language development.

Abstract
Furthermore, the age of the acquisition of each phone was investigated, providing new information about this area of language development.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
