Copolymers formed by melt mixing (270°C) of equimolar mixture (with respect to the repeat units) of Bisphenol-A polycarbonate (PC) and poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) (PEN), in presence of Ti(OBu)4 (0,5%w) as a catalyst, have been characterized by (1H, 13C)-NMR, FTIR DSC and TGA analysis. A shorter reaction time (2-5 min) a four-components copolyester-carbonate was formed, that owing to the consecutive elimination reactions of CO2 and ethylene carbonate (ETC), evolves to a six-components copoly(ether-ester-carbonate) as increase the reaction time (10-45 min) and yielding a four-component copoly(ether-ester) for longer reaction time (>45 min).

Abstract
Copolymers formed by melt mixing (270°C) of equimolar mixture (with respect to the repeat units) of Bisphenol-A polycarbonate (PC) and poly(ethylene 2,6-naphthalate) (PEN), in presence of Ti(OBu)4 (0,5%w) as a catalyst, have been characterized by (1H, 13C)-NMR, FTIR DSC and TGA analysis.
