In This paper first the ninety years of identification of filamentpous bacteria causing bulking was reviewed on what achievments was made for each of the three distinguished periods: the first when Spaherotilus natans was concluded as the main causative organism, the second when filamentous bactyeria were classified by Eikelboom TYpes and the third when FISH a specific biomolecular Method was developed and applied.
