Abstract
Home and Building Automation Systems (HBASs) are designed with a great focus on introducing energy efficiency in the controlled equipment. However, it is open to analysis whether HBAS networks are able to operate with an optimal usage of their own power. Similarly to other ICT networks, therefore, also HBAS may be subject to review and optimization in order to reach a more efficient Green Networking. This issue has been traditionally a crucial design requirement only in wireless battery-operated devices, whereas wire-line networks, such as KNX, have mainly sacrificed it, with more effort dedicated to functionalities and reliability. This paper intends to provide contribution to the subject of "internal" energy efficiency in HBASs, with a special focus on KNX, and evaluate the effectiveness and feasibility of possible improvements to the standardFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
