The work explores, in part, the study on the Ligurian Oltregiogo pathways between the third and fifth century, during which the economic and political development of the Genoese Republic established. It retraces the ancient Roman roads, opening new stretches, creating places of rest and refreshment, transition zones for mule riders, without ignoring the construction of chapels for religious pilgrims. However, Genoese merchants and mule riders of the Middle Ages rely, in large part, on these very roads traced by the Romans (the Postumia and the Aemilia Scauri roads), tested routes and safe paths for the vital link between Ligurian Ports, Apennine inland, and the Northern markets.

Abstract
The work explores, in part, the study on the Ligurian Oltregiogo pathways between the third and fifth century, during which the economic and political development of the Genoese Republic established. It retraces the ancient Roman roads, opening new stretches, creating places of rest and refreshment, transition zones for mule riders, without ignoring the construction of chapels for religious pilgrims. However, Genoese merchants and mule riders of the Middle Ages rely, in large part, on these very roads traced by the Romans (the Postumia and the Aemilia Scauri roads), tested routes and safe paths for the vital link between Ligurian Ports, Apennine inland, and the Northern markets.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
