Some experiments of passive detection of Ultra Low and Extremely Low Frequency (ULF/ELF) EM background noise have been performed at selected sites in order to assess a strategy to approach the task of Mars EM noise mapping, selecting the appropriate instrumentation and acquisition method. The paper presents the results obtained by a preliminary survey realised in an Italian site for testing the designed instrumentation and the acquisition strategy.
