Peer-to-peer (p2p) technologies have been widely adopted for developing file-sharing systems and, more generally, content distribution systems, e.g., for data replication. Moreover, they are characterized by high scalability, being able to support tens to millions of users. Besides, they also allow to use portion of users' resources to establish an active participation in the service delivery phase. In this perspective, some optimization techniques are useful to enhance the overall system and to optimize the usage of resources. In addition, such techniques could be used to mitigate the freeriding, which is the usage of resources from a remote user without contributing. This paper introduces a p2p-based system for content replication, enhanced with built-in optimization techniques.
