The fauna inhabiting the burrows of the mollusc Pholas dactylus (Linneo, 1758) (paddock) inside coal-ash substrates located in the central Adriatic Sea, was investigated. The empty burrows were rapidly colonized by many species (32), mainly represented by decapods and molluscs, typical of soft and hard bottoms.
