Conferences should be both a way to share new ideas with other experts, and an occasion to keep or become in touch with other subjects, and thus start new collaborations. Difficulties generally arise because the audience's levels of knowledge are very rarely homogeneous and equally specialised. As a consequence, the problem should be faced of preparing people beforehand. In this paper, a 3-layered architecture is discussed for lining different personal backgrounds and competences up with the specific topics of a conference session. This model consists of: (a) check of the knowledge level of a topic of an individual (external layer); (b) consequent decision of the necessary prerequisites for that specific person (middle layer); (c) acquisition of such prerequisites through an LDAP-based information system supporting e-learning (lower, internal layer).

Abstract
Conferences should be both a way to share new ideas with other experts, and an occasion to keep or become in touch with other subjects, and thus start new collaborations. Difficulties generally arise because the audience's levels of knowledge are very rarely homogeneous and equally specialised. As a consequence, the problem should be faced of preparing people beforehand. In this paper, a 3-layered architecture is discussed for lining different personal backgrounds and competences up with the specific topics of a conference session. This model consists of: (a) check of the knowledge level of a topic of an individual (external layer); (b) consequent decision of the necessary prerequisites for that specific person (middle layer); (c) acquisition of such prerequisites through an LDAP-based information system supporting e-learning (lower, internal layer).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
