Results of studies carried out by different institutes of National Research Council (CNR) in the field of waste treatment, recovery and disposal are shown in this paper. The above institutes are included in the CNR Departments of Earth and Environment, Energy and Transports and Molecular Design. The research activities are related to waste incineration, production of a solid recovered fuel (SRF) by means of an innovative process, monitoring of gas produced by landfill sites, recovery of metallurgical waste and of metals from electronic and exhaust batteries, and recovery of wastes produced by the gold industry.
