Recently, a theory of spontaneous momentum generation due to the toroidally asymmetricexcitation of ion temperature gradient (ITG) modes in the presence of a radial profile oftoroidal ion velocity has been formulated [1]. We present a systematic study of thedispersion equation relevant to the electrostatic slab modes driven by an ITG perpendicularto a uniform magnetic field, in the presence of an inhomogeneous equilibrium fluid velocityof the ions.
