The conservation of the earthen architecture needs sometimes chemical treatments in order to both strengthen and waterproofing the exposed surfaces so that the damages due to the interactions with the environment may be reduced. A new methodology is proposed to evaluate adobe treatments. It is based on the diffusion of a small drop of water applied on the flat substratum surface recording both the absorption time and the wet spot ray. The Diffusion Coefficient resulting from the diffusion curves appears to be comparable with the Capillary Absorption Coefficient calculated on stone samples with the standard methodology.

Abstract
The conservation of the earthen architecture needs sometimes chemical treatments in order to both strengthen and waterproofing the exposed surfaces so that the damages due to the interactions with the environment may be reduced. A new methodology is proposed to evaluate adobe treatments. It is based on the diffusion of a small drop of water applied on the flat substratum surface recording both the absorption time and the wet spot ray. The Diffusion Coefficient resulting from the diffusion curves appears to be comparable with the Capillary Absorption Coefficient calculated on stone samples with the standard methodology.File in questo prodotto:
