The article describes the statistical elaboration of end-of-life scenarios for construction and demolition waste required for the setting-up of a database of environmentally compatible building materials for the Italian context. The definition of end-of-life scenarios is part of a wider LCA-approach to the environmental performance of building materials. Characteristics of the national waste management practice, critical issues in data availability, methodological choices, procedures and final results are reported.
