The proper admittance of daylight in offices and tertiary buildings is very important both for well-being of users and for building energy saving purposes. The correct evaluation of visual and thermo-hygrometric comfort and of energy demand is essential in an integrated design approach. First, this paper describes an experimental campaign on performances of innovative transparent envelope elements. Then, it illustrates the methodological approach used to evaluate energy consumption and comfort through analytical calculations in offices. Results highlight the importance of control systems which are able to optimize solar control and plant operation schedules in order to maximize comfort and energy saving.

Abstract
The proper admittance of daylight in offices and tertiary buildings is very important both for well-being of users and for building energy saving purposes. The correct evaluation of visual and thermo-hygrometric comfort and of energy demand is essential in an integrated design approach. First, this paper describes an experimental campaign on performances of innovative transparent envelope elements. Then, it illustrates the methodological approach used to evaluate energy consumption and comfort through analytical calculations in offices. Results highlight the importance of control systems which are able to optimize solar control and plant operation schedules in order to maximize comfort and energy saving.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
