Abstract

The knowledge of the modern microfauna and microflora assemblages behavior allow to interpret the environmental and climatic evolution in the past. With this concept in mind, we present here a selection of the fossil record from the Miocene to the Quaternary of the Mediterranean area to highlight affinities and differences between anoxic layers of different ages. These informations represent a database very important to be kept for predictive modeling.
