The objective of the present paper was to evaluate the applicability of a widespread biogeochemical model (BIOME-BGC) within Mediterranean enviroments. This required a preliminary calibration phase, which was performed by fitting the relevant monthly Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) outputs to those of a simplified parametric model, C-FIX, which can produce accurate GPP estimates using ancillary and satellite (NDVI) data. After calibration and validation, BIOME-BGC was applied to provide information also about Net Primary Productivity (NPP) and Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) of Tuscany forests.
Il presente lavoro ha lo scopo di calibrare in ambiente Mediterraneo un modello bio-geochimico (BIOME-BGC) usando un modello parametri (C-Fix) basato su profili NDVI. Quest'ultimo è in grado di stimare con buona approssimazione la Gross Primary Productivity (GPP) di un ecosistema ed è stato quindi utilizzato per la parmaetrizzazione di BIOME-BGC utilizzando questo parametro come base di confronto. Una volta calibrato e validato, BIOME-BGC è stato applicato per fornire ulteriori informazioni su Net Primary Productivity (NPP) e Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) delle foreste Toscane.
