The paper discusses the potentialities offered by the Small BAseline Subset (SBAS) Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR) technique to investigate subsidence phenomena in urban areas and, thus, to provide useful information for the detection of building damage susceptibility, the management of groundwater resources and the urban planning. With reference to the Sarno town (Italy), whose urban area is affected by ground surface settlements ascribed to groundwater withdrawals, results at low and high resolution, obtained by using data acquired by ERS-1/2 and Envisat satellites in the period from 1992 to 2004, are shown.

Abstract
The paper discusses the potentialities offered by the Small BAseline Subset (SBAS) Differential Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (DInSAR) technique to investigate subsidence phenomena in urban areas and, thus, to provide useful information for the detection of building damage susceptibility, the management of groundwater resources and the urban planning. With reference to the Sarno town (Italy), whose urban area is affected by ground surface settlements ascribed to groundwater withdrawals, results at low and high resolution, obtained by using data acquired by ERS-1/2 and Envisat satellites in the period from 1992 to 2004, are shown.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
