A phytosociological study about the vegetation of the basin of Dirillo river (S-E Sicily) is presented. This area is characterised by the presence of numerous geomorphologic and paesaggistic types, that are related to the presence of many vegetational types. Hygrophilous forests (Populetalia albae), deciduous hygrophilous shrub communities (Salicetalia purpureae), evergreen hygrophilous shrub communities (Nerio-Tamaricetea), termophilous forests (Quercetalia ilicis), termophilous evergreen shrub communities (Pistacio-Rhamnetalia alaterni), garrigues (Cisto-Micromerietea), steppic communities (Lygeo-Stipetea) and casmophilous communities are investigated. Moreover, syndinamic outlines are provided.
