The paper shows the results derived from a survey on the Italian scientific museums functions and organisation. Data collected through the collaboration between the National Research Council (CNR) and the National Association of the Scientific Museums (ANMS) highlight ongoing changes in the museums' performance for research, teaching and public understanding of science functions.
L'indagine svolta sui musei scientifici italiani mostra l'articolata vitalità delle iniziative e delle risorse umane: ne emerge un mondo multiforme ed eterogeneo per fun- zioni e organizzazione. L'insieme dei dati è stato raccolto attraverso l'aggiornamento della Banca dati musei scientifici realizzata dal CNR-Ceris in collaborazione con l'ANMS, e l'a- nalisi rivela alcune tendenze di cambiamenti in atto nelle strutture museali.
