At macroeconomic level, the Italian competitiveness is very low: on the one hand, the main international rating agencies list our country in the lower positions of the rankings, at the same level of many less-developed-countries; on the other hand, if we analyse the structural characteristics and the economic performances of Italian firms, the differences with the main European countries are not so high. It seems that Italian firms have the internal resources to face with the structural adjustment requested by globalization, but the efforts made by entrepreneurs in terms of new investments should be supported by new product strategies and by financial market reforms.

Abstract
At macroeconomic level, the Italian competitiveness is very low: on the one hand, the main international rating agencies list our country in the lower positions of the rankings, at the same level of many less-developed-countries; on the other hand, if we analyse the structural characteristics and the economic performances of Italian firms, the differences with the main European countries are not so high. It seems that Italian firms have the internal resources to face with the structural adjustment requested by globalization, but the efforts made by entrepreneurs in terms of new investments should be supported by new product strategies and by financial market reforms.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
