This article is a detailed study of the recent changes to the definition of maritime zones in the Mediterranean. Formerly, the Mediterranean was seen as an exceptional kind of closed or semi-closed sea with large areas that were defined as high seas. Today it is becoming a compartimentalized area, where each coastal State defines functional-type exclusive zones, which vary from one State to the next: exclusive zones, ecological protection zones, mixed zones. The author has studied the legitimacy of these different zones and suggests new and original ways of considering the question.

Abstract
This article is a detailed study of the recent changes to the definition of maritime zones in the Mediterranean. Formerly, the Mediterranean was seen as an exceptional kind of closed or semi-closed sea with large areas that were defined as high seas. Today it is becoming a compartimentalized area, where each coastal State defines functional-type exclusive zones, which vary from one State to the next: exclusive zones, ecological protection zones, mixed zones. The author has studied the legitimacy of these different zones and suggests new and original ways of considering the question.File in questo prodotto:
