In the present paper are reported average and statistics of representative analyses on a set of selected international reference mineral samples. The analyses were performed using a JEOLJXA-8600 electron microprobe. Equipment configuraton and analytical procedures for quantitative routine microchemical analyses of silicate minerals and glasses are also reported. Analytical precision and accuracy were checked and they result to be appropriate for analysing: a) the major elements of silicate minerals and glasses; b) some minor elements typically present in various silicate minerals; c) the volatile elements (C and S) characterizing the silicate glasses.
