Terahertz (THz) imaging is an emerging technique for the non-invasive analysis of artworks. Since THzwaves can penetrate opaque materials, various imaging systems that make use ofTHzwaves have been developed in order to detect certain chemicals and defects in materials. More recently, THz imaging has been applied to the examination of works of art. The first experiments in the use of THz imaging in the field of art have provided very encouraging results.
