The Author illustrates an archaeological case study in which statistical techniques have been applied to conduct a typological and iconographical analysis of Etruscan artefacts. The corpus of data is constituted by the stone cinerary urns produced in Volterra in the Hellenistic period and the analysis is aimed at verifying the presence of a significant relationship between morphological and iconographical aspects. In particular, the Author analyses the series of architectural mouldings, which have been considered as distinctive countermarks of single workshops. A formalised description of these mouldings gave the opportunity to verify the presence of a significant interrelationship between the upper and lower frames of the chests as well as to analyse the relevant manufacturing modalities.

Abstract
The Author illustrates an archaeological case study in which statistical techniques have been applied to conduct a typological and iconographical analysis of Etruscan artefacts. The corpus of data is constituted by the stone cinerary urns produced in Volterra in the Hellenistic period and the analysis is aimed at verifying the presence of a significant relationship between morphological and iconographical aspects. In particular, the Author analyses the series of architectural mouldings, which have been considered as distinctive countermarks of single workshops. A formalised description of these mouldings gave the opportunity to verify the presence of a significant interrelationship between the upper and lower frames of the chests as well as to analyse the relevant manufacturing modalities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
