Abstract
We report on anelastic relaxation measurements made on a hydrogen charged single crystal of Nb0.996Zr0.004. The crystal was a <100> oriented bar and was excited on its extensional and torsional mode: At temperatures below that of liquld nitrogen, dissipation peaks were observed in the extensional vibration mode, which are attributable to tunnelling of H trapped by substitutional Zr. They are not observed in the torsional mode. This fact is analyzed in terms of two-site tunnelling. and four-site tunnelling and it is shown to be compatible with the latter case only.File in questo prodotto:
