The diffusion of pervasive, sensor-rich, network-interconnected devices embedded in the environment is rapidly changing the Internet. The nature of pervasive devices makes wireless networks the easiest solution for their interconnection. Furthermore, in a pervasive computing environment, the infrastructure-based wireless communication model is often not adequate: it takes time to set up the infrastructure network, while the costs associated with installing infrastructure can be quite high [1]. Therefore multi-hop ad hoc wireless technologies represent one of the most promising directions to further extend the current Internet, and diffuse traditional networking services even more widely ([2], [3]).

Abstract
The diffusion of pervasive, sensor-rich, network-interconnected devices embedded in the environment is rapidly changing the Internet. The nature of pervasive devices makes wireless networks the easiest solution for their interconnection. Furthermore, in a pervasive computing environment, the infrastructure-based wireless communication model is often not adequate: it takes time to set up the infrastructure network, while the costs associated with installing infrastructure can be quite high [1]. Therefore multi-hop ad hoc wireless technologies represent one of the most promising directions to further extend the current Internet, and diffuse traditional networking services even more widely ([2], [3]).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
