In this paper we present a review of statistical database models. The most significant models proposed in literature are examined focusing on their relevant features, advantages and disvantages. The analysis is carried out independently from the data structure used to store data and from the lay-out for the user. In particular we survey formal models, logic-based models and ad-hoc models. Each model is analysed by different perspectives. We examine its basic formal structures and the paradigm used to express them (i.e.: the relational model, graphs, object-oriented approach, logical approach). We also report the different aggregative level (micro and macro data) employed in each model and the relative query language

Abstract
In this paper we present a review of statistical database models. The most significant models proposed in literature are examined focusing on their relevant features, advantages and disvantages. The analysis is carried out independently from the data structure used to store data and from the lay-out for the user. In particular we survey formal models, logic-based models and ad-hoc models. Each model is analysed by different perspectives. We examine its basic formal structures and the paradigm used to express them (i.e.: the relational model, graphs, object-oriented approach, logical approach). We also report the different aggregative level (micro and macro data) employed in each model and the relative query languageFile | Dimensione | Formato | |
