This paper analyses the support to Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) provided by LODE, a collaborative environment apt to create Communities of Practice of teachers, focused on sharing Learning Objects and pedagogical experience. LODE is based on a pedagogical view of re-use which takes into consideration not only educational material but also teachers' methodology and experience of use. SRL is a cross-curricular competence which allows learners to improve their achievements by controlling behaviour, meta-cognition and motivation, in relation with the learning context. The environment was designed so as to encourage SRL. It was implemented by modifying an open-source knowledge management system and first applied in a teacher training course. We present the outcomes of this experience, which suggest trainees' appreciation and use of the SRL-supporting features embodied in the environment.
