In this work, we report on the design, synthesis, thin-film growth, and optoelectronic properties of the newly synthesized dithienothiophene derivative 2,6-bis-(5?-hexyl-[2,2?]bithiophen- 5-yl)-3,5-dimethyl-dithieno[3,2-b;2?,3?-d]thiophene (DTT7Me). DTT7Me films, grown both by vacuum sublimation and, more importantly for technological applications, by drop casting, were successfully employed as active layers in Organic Light Emitting Transistors (OLETs).
