In this work we show that the use of light pulses with stabilized carrier-envelope phase allows one to control the attosecond electron wave-packets generated by the interaction between the high-peak-power light pulse and atoms. When the duration of the driving field is shorter than similar to 5 fs, such control offers the possibility to generate a broad continuum in the cutoff spectral region of the generated harmonic spectrum, clear signature of the confinement of the harmonic emission to a single attosecond burst. Moreover we will analyze the effects of phase-stabilization in the case of multiple-cycle driving pulses

Abstract

In this work we show that the use of light pulses with stabilized carrier-envelope phase allows one to control the attosecond electron wave-packets generated by the interaction between the high-peak-power light pulse and atoms. When the duration of the driving field is shorter than similar to 5 fs, such control offers the possibility to generate a broad continuum in the cutoff spectral region of the generated harmonic spectrum, clear signature of the confinement of the harmonic emission to a single attosecond burst. Moreover we will analyze the effects of phase-stabilization in the case of multiple-cycle driving pulses
