The construction of theoretical models is essential in all scientific fields where the complexity of systems under study overcomes the current possibilities of formulating quantitative predictions about their behavior. This is the case, for instance, of gene systems. We designed a discrete model for this case, similar to cellular automata but allowing random connections among system's elements and the influence of external agents, and build a pilot implementation of it. We are using this model to study the stability of gene systems under the influence of external stimuli.

Abstract
The construction of theoretical models is essential in all scientific fields where the complexity of systems under study overcomes the current possibilities of formulating quantitative predictions about their behavior. This is the case, for instance, of gene systems. We designed a discrete model for this case, similar to cellular automata but allowing random connections among system's elements and the influence of external agents, and build a pilot implementation of it. We are using this model to study the stability of gene systems under the influence of external stimuli.File in questo prodotto:
