In this work we propose a case study on human mobility as perceived by telecom operators' infrastructures. Based on GSM data of roaming users, we try to understand how visitors of a touristic area use the territory, with particular emphasis on visits to attractions. Several issues due to the nature of available data are explored, providing hints and heuristics to tackle them, and a comparison with external information sources on touristic activity is performed.

Abstract
In this work we propose a case study on human mobility as perceived by telecom operators' infrastructures. Based on GSM data of roaming users, we try to understand how visitors of a touristic area use the territory, with particular emphasis on visits to attractions. Several issues due to the nature of available data are explored, providing hints and heuristics to tackle them, and a comparison with external information sources on touristic activity is performed.File in questo prodotto:
