We investigate the statistical properties of anisotropic turbulence, by considering the behaviour of some particular indicators measured in an homogeneous shear flow. These indicators are the components of the correlation tensor, constructed with velocity increments at two different points, which vanish in homogeneous isotropic turbulence. Hence, they are able to extract only the anisotropic contribution to the turbulent field. Preliminary results, limited to second-order statistics, indicate that such anisotropic component decrease in magnitude with respect to the isotropic contribution when the separation is decreased.

Abstract
We investigate the statistical properties of anisotropic turbulence, by considering the behaviour of some particular indicators measured in an homogeneous shear flow. These indicators are the components of the correlation tensor, constructed with velocity increments at two different points, which vanish in homogeneous isotropic turbulence. Hence, they are able to extract only the anisotropic contribution to the turbulent field. Preliminary results, limited to second-order statistics, indicate that such anisotropic component decrease in magnitude with respect to the isotropic contribution when the separation is decreased.File in questo prodotto:
