Excess molar enthalpies, H-m(E), of binary mixtures containing propylene carbonate + 23 alkanoates as a function of the mole fraction of propylene carbonate have been determined at 298.15 using a flow microcalorimeter. H-m(E) values are positive for all mixtures, increasing as the chain length of the alkanoate is increased with a maximum at a mole fraction of approximate to 0.5. Maximum values range from 26 J.mol(1) for methyl acetate to 960 J.mol(-1) for ethyl octanoate. Binary mixtures containing propylene carbonate + each one of the structural isomers have been considered. Results have been correlated using the Redlich-Kister equation and have been qualitatively explained.
