In this paper, some preliminary results of a survey on Homebound Education lead within the Italian context in collaboration with the Italian Ministry of Education, and aimed at comprehending how ICT are used to enhance home education processes, will be illustrated. Starting from this picture on the actual situation of homebound education in Italy, a new methodological approach has been identified, consisting of a set of interrelated socio-educational scenarios, in which web 2.0 technology plays an important role to support learning, socialization and to reduce forced isolation. This approach has been experimented with a homebound student at upper secondary school level. This experience, still in progress, has produced significant psychological and educational benefits for both the homebound student and her peers.
