The disomic addition lines of bread wheat cv. Chinese Spring-Aegilops searsii were analysed using electrophoretic and chromatographic techniques to assess chromosomal location of genes encoding gliadin components and high Mr glutenin subunits in Ae. searsii species. Genes coding for gliadin components were found to be located on the short arms of chromosomes 1S-S and 6S-S of Aegilops searsii, whereas genes coding for high molecular weight glutenin subunits (HMW-GS) were shown to be located on the long arms of chromosome 1S-S.
