ISLaSI is a project for the development of a Decision Support System (DSS), useful to plan the sustainable land use and, at the same time, the protection of the facing coastal zone. This integrated management of terrestrial and marine resources is based on the assessment of the limits of the terrestrial eutrophic loads that can be also consistent with the exploitations of the marine resources (fishery, aquaculture, shellfish culture, tourism, etc.). In this view, the ecological status of the coastal zone is not only regarded "per se" but also like a "trophic sensor", integrated in a DSS, for the correct management of the land uses.
