Measurements of the S-0(0) triplet and of the double rotovibrational Q(1)(0)+S-0(0) Raman transition in solid hydrogen at different densities are presented. The frequency separations of the three S-0(0) components are used to obtain an estimate of the motional renormalization coefficient for the quadrupole-quadrupole interaction of two molecules in the ground vibrational state. With such an information the interaction in the first excited vibrational stale can be obtained from the intensity of the double rotovibrational transition. [S0163-1829(98)03322-0].
