The essay focuses on an extensive commentary to Boccaccio's Teseida surviving in a single codex, the manuscript It. 581, written in the second half of 15th century and today owned by the National Library in Paris, which was originally part of the collection of Angilberto del Balzo Orsini, count of Ugento and duke of Nardò (died 1487). Examining the text and its sources allow to demonstrate the independence of this commentary from the exegetical tradition to Boccaccio's poem in the Middle Ages, and provides information about the unknown author, his culture, interests and provenance.
Il saggio è incentrato su un ampio commento anonimo al Teseida di Boccaccio trasmesso da un solo manoscritto della seconda metà del XV secolo, il codice It. 581 della Biblioteca Nazionale di Parigi, appartenuto in origine alla biblioteca di Angilberto del Balzo Orsini, conte di Ugento e duca di Nardò (morto nel 1487). L'analisi del testo e delle sue fonti consente di stabilire l'indipendenza e l'autonomia di questo commento dalla restante tradizione esegetica incentrata sul poema boccacciano, e offre elementi utili a chiarire l'attività, la cultura e la provenienza geografica dell'ignoto commentatore.
