Roboethics: Focus on the civil and military problems of drones | Roboetica: Focus sulle problematiche civili e militari dei droni

This paper outlines the new issues posed by the increasing spread of the use of drones beyond the scope of their traditional research and military employment. Updated regulatory rules are needed because of the increasing development of civilian consumer market. Urgent ethical, legal and societal aspects (ELSA) should be dealt because of the massive use of drones in the so called "war on terror". Actually, most of these issues arise form the military origin of the UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). But also their civilian use poses important problems of safety, privacy, anonymity and secrecy.
