One of the most important adaptation actions against climate change is the rational use of water resources. In the framework of agrometeorology and more in general in agriculture several techiques were set up to avoid the uncontrolled use of water. For instance the monitoring of soil moisture through devices or the development of modelling to assess water availabity and evapotranspiration. The latter is of common use for agrometeorologists. Nevertheless the water consumptions due to plants include also sectors far from the above-cited research issues as for instance people managing public/private gardens and parks or social urban farming. In this study we present the preliminary results of the H2Ort project. H2Ort project is thought to implement a web app to assess the plant water needs for newbie producers, i.e. with few experience and being available few data for model implementation. The main aim of H2Ort is to make aware the inexpert user about plant water needs. The communication will be a pillar of the project, and it must be effective to make agrometeorology a useful tool for a broader society segment. During the project we will evaluate the environmental benefits that such a tool can bring at urban scale.
