Chapter X analyses the functions and the syntactic distribution of the prepositions expressing relations of source, derivation, separation or introducing the role of the agent. These are the latin prepositions AB, DE and EX and the new prepositions da and aba. Known as an italo-romance preposition, da will be the center of the study in order to highlight his structural features and functions in the language of the documents. The chapter also focuses on the functional specializations and on the alternations that can be observed in the contexts where the various prepositions express similar meanings.
