The preliminary results of a research carried out to investigate possible extensions of two-dimensional hip sonographic examination are presented. A dedicated workstation and software have been designed and partially implemented. By applying suitable analysis and reconstruction algorithms on parallel axial and/or frontal sonographic slices, three-dimensional hip morphology can be obtained in order to perform a more complete anatomical evaluation and test the actual application of this technique.
