An investigation of the kinematical evolution of the wave impact against a vertical wall is proposed in the present paper. To this purpose 2D sloshing experiments in shallow-water conditions have been performed. Themain emphasis of the study is given to the role of the ullage pressure, i.e. the constant pressure existing inside the tank, on the evolution of the air cavity entrapped during the impact of the breaking wave against the vertical wall.

Abstract
