The mapping of asbestos-cement roofs in the Lazio region: results achieved and future prospects

A brief discussion introduces the regulatory path that led to the mapping project of the asbestos-cement (a-c) roofsin the Lazio Region as provided by Law 257/1992 and by the D.M. 101/2003. Here we have analyzed both resultsachieved and those not, through the use of remote sensing from aircraft/ drone /satellite and we have highlightedstrengths and weaknesses of those technologies. A detailed estimate of the presence of c-a by 2020 is provided in orderto quantify on-site residuals and in this way we are able to evaluate the landfills that can accommodate it by integratingremote sensing data and data pursuant to art. 9 L. 257.

Con un breve excursus, si introduce il percorso normativo che ha portato al progetto di mappatura delle coperture incemento-amianto (c-a), nel territorio della Regione Lazio previsto dalla L. 257/1992 e dal D.M. 101/2003. Si analizzanoi risultati raggiunti e quelli non raggiunti con il telerilevamento da aereo, drone e satellite e si mettono in evidenzai punti di forza e di debolezza delle tecnologie utilizzate. Si fornisce una stima dettagliata della presenza del c-a al2020 per quantificare il residuo in opera e dimensionare così le discariche che lo possano accogliere integrando datitelerilevati e dati ex art.9 L.257.
