the paper presents the results of systematic archaeological surveys carried out in recent years in the territory of hierapolis in phrygia, in the context of the research activities of the Italian archaeological Mission and the Marmora phrygiae project. the archaeological surveys allowed to identify numerous ancient marble quarries located a short distance from the urban area and also further away, which until now had been almost completely unknown. all the quarries were georeferenced on high-resolution satellite images. In particular, this article offers a detailed description of the hierapolis-Gök dere, Marmar tepe, thiounta and Gölemezli quarries, focusing especially on quarry faces, extraction techniques, volumes of the extracted materials and transportation roads.
